Literacy DASP Festival

Literacy DASP Festival June 2016

Throughout the DASP schools all things literacy have been happening in order to celebrate and inspire reading and writing in children.

All Year 2 children in the DASP schools visited the Thomas Hardye School Library to listen and speak to author and illustrator Tim Warnes about his work and the joy of reading and writing.

8 Year 4 pupils from all DASP schools attended the grand finale of the literacy festival at Dorchester Thomas Hardye School.
The theme of the day was DESERT ISLANDS. On arrival the children were asked to decorate their table. It was later judge by the guest author of the day.
The children were first entertained by the amazing story teller Cassandra Wye!
The children heard from guest speaker and author of the children's Shapeshifter books, Ali Sparkes. She spoke about the inspiration for her books and hopefully inspired future writers from DASP!
To end the day we had a picnic lunch in the June sunshine. All the children were given a goody bag including weird and wonderful stationary and a Horrible Histories book.
