Sporting Events

We have had a very busy term for sporting events!!!
 
 
Kwik Cricket Festival - Year 3 and 4
 
In May, a team of Year 3 and Year 4 children took part in a Kwik Cricket Festival at Dorchester Recreational Ground.  Alongside other schools in the area, the children took part in a range of different activities centred around cricket and learnt many new skills. Great fun was had by all!
Tennis Competition
 
Erin and William from Year 3 and Imogen and Toby from Year 4 took part in a tennis competition held at Dorchester Tennis Club. The children competed in a range of friendly matches against other schools in the area. Frome Valley came 5th and all children involved represented the school very well. Congratulations Frome Valley Tennis Team!
Swimming Gala
 
Harry, Isaac and Kelsie competed in the West Dorset Year 4 Gala held at Dorchester Swimming Pool.
All children did a fantastic job. Congratulations to Harry, who came 2nd overall in breaststroke with a time of 28.27, narrowly missing out on 1st place!
 
Kwik Cricket Festival - Year 1 and 2
 
At the beginning of June, four children from Year 1 and four children from Year 2 spent the morning at St Mary's Middle School. They spent the first part of the morning with the Year 8 Sports Leaders learning cricket skills and the second half was spent taking part in a cricket tournament where Frome Valley came joint 3rd!! Congratulations to them all!!
 
 
South Dorset Athletics Competition
 
At the beginning of June, four children from Year 4 took part in an athletics competition at St Osmond's Middle School for children in Year 4,5 and 6. The children took part in 60m sprint and long jump. In the sprint, there were 4 heats with 8 children in each race, followed by a semi-final and then the final.
 
Toby came 2nd in the 60m sprint final, very narrowly missing out on first place. He also came 3rd in the long jump. Mia came 6th in the 60m sprint final.
 
Huge congratulations to them and also Ruby and Jacob for all their efforts. We are very proud of them all!!
 
Toby now progresses on to the county championships in Bournemouth at the beginning of July!
