The Creation Story
To learn about the Christian creation story we explored a range of sensory boxes. Each box was labelled with the day of the week and contained clues to the Bible story. It was great fun playing with everything in the boxes! Later we made creation plates to help us to remember the story.
Lost toy stories
As part of our 'Old Toy, New Toy' topic we brought our favourite soft toy to school. We thought about why our toy was special and how it might feel to lose it. After reading stories such as 'Dogger' by Shirley Hughes and watching 'Knuffle Bunny' - an animated story about a young girl who loses her favourite rabbit - we wrote our own lost toy stories featuring our very own cuddlies!
Values work on respect
At the beginning of term we learnt about one of our school's core values - respect. We discovered that The Golden Rule - treat others as you would want them to treat you - comes from the Bible. It reminds us to be kind and to respect others. We wrote promises about how we intended to treat each other inside heart shapes and decorated them before hanging them up in the classroom.
