Autumn 2019

Stone Age to Iron Age
This first half term topic was massively enjoyed by the children.
The children used their writing skills to demonstrate their knowledge of Stone Age Hunter Gathers in diary entries.
The children used DT and Art skills to create models of  individual natural art pieces that might be seen on Bronze Age round house and cave walls and Iron Age hill fort Maiden Castle in groups.
Dorset Ridgeway Trip
We enjoyed a fantastic trip exploring Bronze and Iron Age historical sights along the Dorset Ridge Way including: long barrow Grey Mare and her Colts; Kingston Russel Stone Circle and Colourford Trees round barrow.
This term, we had the great opportunity of learning basketball skills and playing small team games lead by the expertise of a very experienced basketball coach. Such fun had by all!
Carnival of Animals
Our second cross curricular topic this term focused on learning and developing the children's DT skills. The children learnt how objects can use a pneumatic system to work e.g. wind instruments, pumps and some robots.
Then, used this concept to design and make an animal with a moving part using a pneumatic system from tubing, balloon and syringe with a talking partner.
