Book Group

Frome Valley Book Groups

In order to promote reading for pleasure the Dorchester Area Schools Partnership (DASP) has supported all DASP schools to create a book group in school.

The launch took place at Dorchester Library on 27th February 2014. Two children from every DASP school took part during which they helped design a logo for the book group, learnt about the DASP book group blog and spoke about their favourite book. See photos below!


At Frome Valley, we are running a book group for Year 3 and 4 children with Mrs Palmer and for Year 2 children with Mrs Beecheno!

Spring 2016

Mrs Palmer’s book group 1 are currently reading To Be a Cat by Matt Haig. 

Mrs Palmer’s book group 2 are currently reading  Wild Thing Goes Camping by Emma Barnes. 

Mrs Beecheno book group choose a picture book to read each week. Here are the list of books the children choose from. Have a read, you may enjoy them too!

The Blog is accessible through the Damers First School website: click on the speech bubble that says click here to find our class blogs and the Book Group blog is near the bottom of the page, provides children with information and trailers about the six books being used in our book group sessions. Each book group makes a weekly entry about the book they are reading. Children are welcome and encouraged to make comments at others times such as from home. In fact anyone can make a comment, parents, teachers, other children in the school; about any book they enjoy reading. So get reading and get blogging!
