Frome Valley Book Groups
In order to promote reading for pleasure the Dorchester Area Schools Partnership (DASP) has supported all DASP schools to create a book group in school.
The launch took place at Dorchester Library on 27th February 2014. Two children from every DASP school took part during which they helped design a logo for the book group, learnt about the DASP book group blog and spoke about their favourite book. See photos below!
At Frome Valley, we are running a book group for Year 3 and 4 children. Books we read include:
To Be a Cat, Matt Haig.
Archie's War, Marcia Williams
The Mystery of Wickworth Manor, Elen Ibotsam
Cool, Michael Morpurgo.
Wild Thing Goes Camping, Emma Barnes.
The Blog is accessible through the Damers First School website: click on the speech bubble that says click here to find our class blogs and the Book Group blog is near the bottom of the page, provides children with information and trailers about the six books being used in our book group sessions. Each book group makes a weekly entry about the book they are reading. Children are welcome and encouraged to make comments at others times such as from home. In fact anyone can make a comment, parents, teachers, other children in the school; about any book they enjoy reading. So get reading and get blogging!
Happy Reading, whether in a book group, at home, in school or anywhere else!
