Citizenship Day

Citizenship day is the first day of a new term. In the autumn term, all class create a class charter to decide their rights and responsibilities for the school year. These are then displayed in each class room and signed by the children.

The shield project is a great way for staff and pupils to get to know each other at the start of a new school year. The shield is all about the individual who makes it. It includes: favourite person, favourite book, favourite place, favourite memory and favourite item.

The afternoons of citizenship day are all about Anti-Bullying. The children recap what they already know and build on this knowledge and understanding at the new level appropriate to their year group. Establishing what bullying is and who to tell, is usually the main focus in the autumn term.
