Reception & KS1 Sharing Assembly

Reception & KS1 Sharing Assembly

This term's Sharing Assembly was ably led by Emma and Hayden. We began by celebrating the children's achievements outside school. There were lots of badges and certificates to give out for everything from swimming to karate! Then each class shared some work with us and told us what they had learnt and what they were most proud of.

Reception Class shared their learning about traditional tales and treated the audience to a medley of repeated refrains from stories such as 'The Gingerbread Man', 'The Three Little Pigs' and 'Jack and the Beanstalk'. They also talked about how to keep safe near fire and showed us some amazing emergency vehicles which they had made from junk modelling materials as part of their 'People who help us' topic.

Year 1 told us all about their plants topic, including how to cultivate beans and what plants need to grow and remain healthy. They showed us some careful sketches and pieces of artwork inspired by their walks around the school grounds. The children then sang a song all about plants and growth.

Year 2's topic was 'Starry, Starry Night'. They told us about the artist Vincent van Gogh and proudly showed us the tapestries they had created based on the colours and patterns in van Gogh's famous painting. Some children also read lines from a class poem describing the night sky.

Ms Thorp then congratulated everyone who had completed their WOW card and presented certificates to the two children in each class who had been voted best citizen by their classmates. Finally, some children read prayers they had written on the theme of forgiveness.

Thank you to everyone who attended and well done children for all you have achieved. We are very proud of you all!
