School Council and Pupil Voice 2018-2019

Frome Valley School Council
2018-2019

Autumn term 2018

Each year we hold an election to vote for our new school councillors. Each class elects two children to represent them on the school council (with the exception of Year 4 who have three school councillors).

Children wishing to stand for election complete a nomination form. They are then given the opportunity to explain to their peers why they would make a good school councillor!

This year's elections took place on 14th September and the following children were duly elected:

Year 1:  Zoe and Olivia
Year 2:  Jamie and Layla
Year 3:  Joshua and Alice
Year 4:  Amelia, Alice and Abbie

Well done to all our new councillors!

Year 3 vacancy
Congratulations to Connor who has now been elected to fill the vacancy in Year 3.

Spring term 2019
This term the School Council will be looking at how our playground zones are working. We will be observing children using the zones, interviewing children about which activities they enjoy and talking to teachers and other staff about what works well and how we can improve playtimes.

Summer term 2019

This term we have continued our work on the playground zones. At the end of the project we met with Ms Thorp to feed back our ideas and recommendations for improvements. Some organisational changes have been implemented as a result and an order has been placed for additional items for the play zones.

This term the Council has also written 'Thank You' letters to local companies and organisations who have been kind enough to donate items and raffle prizes.

The School Council has also been busy organising and running the Helpers' Tea Party. The children particularly enjoyed putting out cakes and nibbles on the tables as well as taking orders for tea and coffee during the afternoon!

A huge 'Thank You' goes to all our School Councillors this year. We hope you have enjoyed your time representing your class and that some of you will want to stand for election again in the future!
