Starry, Starry Night
Our topic for the start of the Spring Term is Starry, Starry Night. We have begun exploring the artwork of Vincent Van Gogh and will be discovering more about space and the stars in the weeks to come.
Music with Mrs Joy
We were very lucky to have music lessons with Mrs Joy this half term. She taught us lots of new songs and had lots of exciting different percussion instruments for us to try.
We really looked forward to seeing her every week.
We even made up our own song about paintings by Van Gogh.
Art Week in Year 2
We really enjoyed exploring different environments of the world for Art Week. We looked at the Polar Regions and the art of the Canadian First Nations people.
Water Water Everywhere
Our second topic for half term was all about water. We looked at the art of Monet and recreated the water lily paintings he created in his garden at Giverny.
We started by using sponges to apply the paint for the water and Japanese bridge. We added more details with cotton buds. Finally, we used sugar paper and tissue paper to make the lily pads and lily flowers.
We think Monet would have been impressed with our 'impressions' of his art!
