Spring 2024

Mathematics: Doubling Numbers

Reception have enjoyed learning how to double a number (adding the same number to itself!). We learnt a doubling rhyme to help us remember the key doubling facts up to 10. We used numicon, dominoes, ten frames, counters and fingers to solve doubling equations. We used of knowledge of writing addition equations to write some doubling equations. We were very proud of them!
Mathematics: 3D Shapes

We have been learning about 3D shapes and we can recognise and name them, as well as talk about their properties. We really enjoyed guessing what 2D shape would be printed when using a 3D shape to do some stamping. We went on a 3D shape hunt around the school to see what ones were hidden in plain sight! There were so many - we were shocked!
Literacy: Writing Labels

We have been learning how to write labels for a picture. To help us learn, we labelled our friend who was dressed up as a police officer. We used post-it notes to label the different parts of the uniform, which we had learnt from PCSO Ali who had come to visit us at school. Once we understood what the labels were doing, we had a go at labelling a picture and we were amazing at it! From hand-cuffs to walkie-talkies, hats and jackets, we labelled it all!
