Summer 2023

Mathematics: Repeating Patterns

We have been learning about repeating patterns in maths. We have had a go at continuing patterns that have already been made by saying what we can see 'out loud' and figuring out what comes next. We have also had a go at making our own repeating patterns using lots of different objects, such as cubes, shells, coins and pom poms.
Computing: Using Laptops

We have been learning how to log on to laptops and using 'google' to search for games to play. We have also learnt the names of the parts of a laptop, including keyboard, screen, track pad and power button. We know that we need a username and password to keep our information safe and we have recapped online safety too!
Science: Plants and Growing

We have learnt about the parts of the plant. We went outside to spot any plants or flowers that we could see and identified the different parts, including petals, stem and leaves. We used our labelling skills to labels the parts of a plant on a picture. We also learnt what plants need to grow and worked together to create a 'golden sentence' to write in our books.
Reception Class Trip to Moors Valley

We went on a big bus to Moors Valley. Whilst we were there, we explored both of the parks, using our physical skills to navigate the exciting play equipment. We had a picnic lunch together and then we went on a train ride around the park. It was funny when the train ran out of steam half way around. But the conductor explained to us how he had to make more steam, so we learnt about that too! When we got back to school we had an ice lolly!
Reception Class go to Warmwell!

We had so much fun on our trip to Warmwell, which was kindly organised by Mrs Ashby. We took part in four different activities. We did archery, balance bikes, mini gold and fencing. It was brilliant to do some different activities that we don't get the opportunity to do at school. Again, the children's behaviour was fantastic and I was very proud of them all for taking part, listening to instructions and having a go!
